Hello everyone and welcome to Luleå!
We’re going to tell you a bit about the summers in Luleå and what you can do. There’s a lot of stuff to do in Luleå. We have golf courses, an archipelago, soccer fields, islands and forests. And we celebrate midsummer in the middle of the summer. It’s a festival to the honor of the sun! No but seriously, we celebrate midsummer because the sun doesn’t go down that day. Traditionally we celebrate by dressing up and gather around a ”Midsommarstång”, or a maypole pole in English. We then dance and drink the whole night around the maypole. That’s the traditional way of doing it. Most people however, don't really celebrate it like that. It’s more common to just have a barbecue party with friends.
If you like to play golf you could go to Luleå Golf Club. They have great golf courses and excellent service. We have many different sports clubs, some of them are BAIK, IFK Luleå, LF Basket Norbotten and many more. Another festival is Luleå Hamnfestival. The festival goes on for around three days and it’s usually in the late summer. There’s usually a lot a food stands and a small amusement park. Sometimes there’s live music as well. Have fun!
There is one special thing on 1-4 august, we call it ”Luleå hamnfestival” Luleås harbor festival. There you can ride different roller coasters, do a lot of fun things like eat good food or just be with friends and see other attractions. You can also listen to different singers and bands as you can see on the upper left picture. In the night there’s like a party, and sometimes there are a lot of drunk people fighting. I have seen it many times. Or you can just chill at home with some friends. we have a long summer break in 3 months.
In a place called ”Höträsket” near Höträsket you can go to a go-cart track and race, it’s really fun.
Sometimes I get bored, because there aren't that many things you can do in Luleå, and all the really fun things cost money. And then I just call a friend and play video games or eat ice cream at home. If I am really bored I sometimes go to the town. (as you can see on the picture on the upper right picture). There you can shop or just hang out with some friends. But I don't usually do that kind of stuff. When I’m in town I usually just do a lot of flips and sometimes people come and applauds or just stands and watch. In the summer it is usually from +50°F to 86°F.
